The
International Community of Women Living with HIV/ AIDS (ICW) is the only
international network led and made up of women with HIV positive.
It was founded in response to the desperate lack of support, information
and services available to women with HIV positive from all over the world.
It was created with the aim of encouraging the participation of HIV positive
women in areas where public policies are discussed and the decisions which
influence on the life of thousands of infected people are made.
Our objectives: Gather HIV positive women to face problems that affect
us, make sure our voices are heard, act a source of medical, legal and
social information, struggle against discrimination and stigmatization,
report the violation of our rights as women with HIV/Aids, encourage the
acquisition of self-confidence.
The ICW founders are a group of HIV positive women from different countries
that met at the 8th International Conference of AIDS in Amsterdam in 1992.
They wrote “The Twelve Statements”,
which constitute the philosophy of our organization. .
